New Fuel filler neck 1986 Ranger short bed

The bed is almost ready to go back on. I want to replace my filler neck as the old one is about shot. I have had not much luck finding one. I know Amazon sells filler neck hoses. Just want to know if anyone have replaced them? Before I start cutting and measuring.

Is your tank metal or plastic? What is the condition of the tank if metal?

Reason I'm asking is you might better off swapping in a plastic tank from a later model like a 92 and up...if the tank is near shot...93-97 have the same type of fuel pump for 40 psi and laters than that it goes to 65 psi...

After 92 there was a slight change in the body but the tank opening is pretty much the same place...it might be a bit of a squeeze to get it in...like mine currently did not just drop into place...

Anyway...just a thought...if you recently replaced the tank then forget all this noise...lol

I did mine last night. Took me 45min and that includes unbolting the bed, lifting it up about 20" and all.

FYI...if you forget to plug your tail lights back in....it will trip the ABS light.lol

EDIT: I bought mine on RockAuto to the tune of $75, its a Dorman part. I bought a $25 ebay special for my 95 once....it lasted about a year before it started cracking right at the tank like the original.

The tank is about a year old metal tank. I will have to modify one.
