new front brakes, new noise....

A couple days ago I had new front brake pads installed and everything seemed fine and in working order as I drove away. The next day I noticed a somewhat strong burning smell from the brakes, though I have been told that new brakes may do that.

Later on I have begun to notice a whinging noise above 30mph that sounds like a tornado siren. It isn't too loud but can be noticed when pointed out.

Have I done something potentially wrong doing the brakes myself, what are the usual suspects?

Thanx-

new brakes tend to smell like that for a little while and they can also make some noise as they are breaking in. nothing to worry about at the moment.

If you continue to see the problem, check to see if the flex hoses were kinked upon removal of the calipers. It may just be normal installation wear in. You'll know.

Good luck
