My name is James Potter, I am new to V8 Rangers, not new to hotrods. I hjust bought a 99 Ranger std cab short bed. I wil be using it as a teaching tool for my kids. We homeschool, and I will be teaching a basic auto mechanics class so they will learn something besides video games. So far they are excited about it. We will be building it strictly as a drag vehicle. Initially it will be powered by a built 351 Cleveland with a C6. Eventually it will have a C4 with 4800 convertor. Now it has an Explorer 8.8 with 4.10 gear and minispool. Future plans for next year inclcude a 2x3 frame and cage with 9 inch 4 link and struts. I will be teaching them to fabricate and weld for that project. For now it will run 15x8 and 15x4 rodlites and 10x28x15 Et Drags. Hope to eventually get into low 11s with this setup, 9s with new chassis. I will get some photos when we start the class up. Mainly hope to show the kids just how fun this hobby is.

Welcome! What part of MS are you from my man?I'm in Byram

Welcome.
I'm from MS myself.. up North in the Southaven area.

lets see some pics, make sure to make a build thread and keep us update on your build.

I'm curious to see how your truck turns out! Make sure you keep us posted on your progress. Also sounds like a great way to teach your kids. Welcome!

Congrats on the truck but also on choosing to educate your children, can't wait to see pictures.

BadRancher, I am in Pass Christian, just west of Gulfport. I am in the gathering phase now, just picked up a wiring kit and a Pinto rack. That is the easiest way to get manual steering without changing everything else out now. I plan to use my current Exp rear with 4.10 and mini spool, but may need to move up to a 4.56. I also have a couple 9 inchers I can narrow. I have a jig so the only real expense will be good axles, likely Mosers. I just plan on going through the basic stuff for the next year or, but we will be laying out either a Jegster or Chassisworks rectangle frame next year. I figure on taking a year to get that assembled and rolling. I just hope the boys stay interested. As soon as I get some good photos, I will start a build thread.
