New exhaust (pics)

you will smell alilttle exhaust fumes, but it shouldnt be too bad. :icon_thumby:

:no2:

dump under the vehicle...not a good idea.

why is that? cause its illegal?

its not far enough back to eliminate the risk of CO2 poisoning. and its not far enough back to prevent the corrosive exhaust from rusting out the underside of his truck.

another question....you havin a paintball fight under your truck? or did you mean cabron monoxide...since thats what exhaust is::icon_rofl:

looking back...i must have had this post mixed up with a different one. i dont think that system will have much of an effect on anything one way or the other. very short systems like that can decrease the effects of scavanging within the system, but he has enough pipe (and of the stock 2" diameter) that it should function fine.

sorry for my previous post.

it did effect my mileage a bit, ever since i got it, i cant keep my foot off the gas lol

SIDE DUMP SIDE DUMP SIDE DUMP!!!! It looks killer having a chrome tip just barely pokin' outta the side right before the tire.....i have it so my post MAY be biased lol

Get yourself a good quality chambered muffler. It will cut out that annoying staigt pipe pulse and sound better over all. It will make your exhaust vavles a lot happier too by not burning them up!

That setup shouldn't burn up his exhaust valves. I run a similar setup, with two major differences. I have dual 3 1/2" tips dumping out before the right rear tire, and I have a muffler on it (though it is straight-through). Theres still enough pipe on his to prevent it from sucking air through the exhaust valve.

Someone mentioned backpressure.... with 4-stroke automotive engines, optimally you want *no* backpressure at all. Its "Exhaust Escape Velocity" that must be monitored. I cant explain the difference worth a dang, hopefully someone here knows what I mean....something to do with creating a reverse-flow that can choke the motor somewhat, decreasing power. Something like that *shrug*

flow reversion and escape velocity are two different (although, related) things.

thats not a bad looking setup :icon_cheers:

just out of curiosity wicked , not questioning you or anything , but where did you come up with the co poisoning idea , if he is driving down the road at even 20 mph , wouldnt the airflow move the co out from under the truck ?

and to both the guys with pics , nice systems , i will get some pics of mine tommorow

Even with my B2 with the exhaust dumping under the cabin unlike under the bed of a truck I never noticed any exhaust fumes even with the windows down, with my side exit and the windows down I can smell it when I'm stopped. I think some people are paranoid about CO poisoning.

you should be paranoid about CO poisoning. its not like you'll notice until its too late.

air is a funny thing. the underside of our trucks is far from smooth and even while traveling down the freeway, there are air bubbles trapped under the truck that barely move. i wouldnt rely on airflow alone to keep me safe.

and the fact that it doesnt help the rust situation is only icing on the cake.

well yea the rust issue i understand , but of course the view point i come from is that i had a turn down in front of the axle , but that faced the ground
