Hi all,

I'm Aaron and I just picked up a 2000 Ranger XLT today.

It has 156k miles

Auto trans, for door extra cab, 4x2, and the 3.0 V6 Flex Fuel with the environmentally friendly FFV emblems...lol

It has some damage from hitting a tree.

The hood, driver side fender, driver side headlight and light set, and front bumper need to be replaced.

The core support and radiator are pushed back, and the top where the fender bolts to is pushed in.

I think I can fix it with some work and a tree. :)

Its a really nice truck other than the damage.

It also has a painted to match ARE cap!

Also needs a new windshield.

I paid $350 for it off of a friend of mine that I had a class with last semester. he just didn't know what to do with it and bought a new truck, so he helped me out since I have no job right now, and I feel that I helped him as a thanks for being a soldier for us.

Anyway, I'd like some opinions on it to see what I should do.

I REALLY would like to keep it, and have our family use it for our store, but I don't know if that's feasible.

As far as I am concerned, I am 21 and a Junior at Purdue University in Indiana.

I have a 92 Lexus SC300 that is "my baby" and a 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon that I got from a relative to drive while I fix up my SC.

Always wanted a Ranger for hauling stuff though.

Here are some pics, please give me some feedback.

Thanks!

take all the smashed crap off and work from there. you should be able to pull the core support forward and add a support or two to strengthen the now weak areas.

junk yards a good idea

welcome

good luck fixing her up

I could be wrong but it looks like the frame could be bent. I just did a frame swap and I didn't think the old frame was damaged but it was. Right behind the tire it was slightly kinked. Hopefully yours is not, looks like a nice truck.

Here ya go>>>>

I deal with body shops daily, so IMO your gonna need, some of which have already been mentioned above:
Radiator support repaired(spliced, or it's gonna look cobbled up pulled) or replaced, header panel, hood, bumper, LF headlight, LF marker light, LF fender, grill, and I'd say the frame rail layed over to the left just a bit, so it'll need to be pulled on a frame machine.

I picked up a 95 Ranger bout a month ago that had been hit lightly in the front & need alotta the same kinda stuff, more than I wanted to spend on it to fix, so I'm usin it for parts:

We've removed the fenders, hood, drilled out the radiator support, and plan to use the cab on another frame.

GOOD LUCK & post pics of your build.............

Thanks guys.

My goal isn't to make it look new, but just so I can get the hood to open, and have it drivable.

It would rarely leave our small town.

Even if I just straightened things out and slapped the fender back on.
