well tomorow im going to buy a 2003 Toyota Corolla typse S, what do you guys think of this car. im buying it because they get 35mpg and my current ranger only gets 12mpg do you think this is a good or bad idea ? i wanted a ford product but i wasnt going to drive a focus and the stangs are not the best on gas eather. i think the toyota will be a good solid car, it has a 1.8L and a 5speed so i will try keep it anti-rice if anyone here has ever had a 2003-2008 corolla what did you think of it?

well, never owned one
but they seem to be pretty tough
and they are real peppy, when you have a heavy right foot
and they seem to handel really well

i drove one to get my permit, and i scared the driveing instructor, cuz i kept ir exactly at the speed limit down my hometowns twisty, hilly roads.
he was scared to hit the brake on his side of the car, it was fun.
id say go for it

Yeah go for it, Toyotas are very reliable. My sister had a 1990 Toyota Camry pushing 250k miles. She sold it about two years ago and I still see it running around town.

Great car. Very economical, decent power, very reliable, and looks good.

A Corolla is almost as good as a Focus. :)

Excellent choice for a new car. They're dependable, economic, and are fun to drive when you get the engine going. Very easy to work on as well.

Keep it maintained and you should be OK. ie change oil.

Very peppy, nice styling with the "S" package.

Fiancee's mom has one, nice ride.

Your Ranger only gets 12mpg? Is that city driving with a 302 under the hood?

haha nope thats 2.9L that i beat the shit out of, but yes its city the best city i have gotten is 14 i think.

They aren't bad cars, I hardly ever get any coming into my bay at work. A buddy of mine owns a 2007 with 50 000km, and has had no problems with it (aside from problems being related to being hit by a semi, and the damn thing wasn't wrote off, even with over $11000 worth of damage). The only complaint he has had with it is the paint is quite thin and the paint behind the rear wheels seems to be peeling and some spots are down to bare plastic.

Some people just aren't men't to drive new cars I guess. We got an 07 saturn Ion gets 35 and can peel the tires out in 2nd and 3rd, plus options for saturns are really cheap compaired to other companies, seriously like the the one I said we should have gotten was 3,000 more (so like 14,000$) and it came with everything you could want 6 CD, power everything, ON demand TCS (Push button), Alloy Rims, everything and a black interior.

This Is what we have: same color and rims and stuff. not ours 11,000$

What I wanted: 14,000$ yes everything for three thousand which I would have paid my dad for to get this one, (he now regrets his desicion)

2003 corollas suffered shitty driver's positions.
The newer one have 6 way adjustable seats and even tilt/telescopic steering if you got one at that level.

Mm, that would probably solve the problem. My mother's 2003 is the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven, however.

Can't keep up but I think the 2004 went to a slightly different (and presumably nicer) body style? And at some point they got away from timing belts and put in chains- I'd check for that and go newer if you need to to get the chain.

I approve- the "S" model is the only corolla I would consider. The CE and LE models are like subarus, built for lesbos.
