New CA Ranger Owner - Prerunner possibilities?

Hello,

I am entirely new to ranger ownership and have had a couple experiences off-roading and playing in the sand. I recently lucked out and got a smoking hot deal on a 1988 Ford Ranger, standard cab. Its a 2wd 5 speed that I intend to swap the v6 out for a 2.3l Turbo engine (A lot of my experience comes from modding and building an 86 Mustang SVO and I love the engine).

I am looking to explore prerunner builds, best tips and practices and hopefully get it out to Pismo later this year. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it'd be greatly appreciated as I learn the ins and outs.

Sounds like a sweet build man! I was thinking about doing that with my 92, but it's become more of a daily driver than a toy......and now it's on it's way to 4x4. But a 2.3 turbo should make a sweet pre-runner......nice and light up front.
