I need some suggestions I recently purchased this Bronco II for my son and this weekend I noticed a crack in the front crossmember under the engine. The crack stops at a rivet where the front axle is attached to the crossmember.

What is the best way to repair this crack and does anyone have any pictures of the repair?

Thanks
Jason

grind a groove in the crack and weld it up. Unfortunately it may be temporary due to not being able to weld both sides of the crack w/out pulling the engine.

What about welding the groove and welding a plate over it? I've done some research and found this isn’t uncommon but I haven't seen any pictures of the actual repair.

Remove the bracket, and grind and weld first side. Then cut into back side and repeat. Then bolt the bracket back on:icon_welder:

And that is a nice Bronco:icon_thumby:

Exactly what I was going to say. Unless you can find a used one at a JY

And yeah...That's a good looking truck. It might be the 1st I've ever seen like that!

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you can't repair that.... so you should just give it to me, I'll take it off your hands and dispose of it properly.....heh, heh, heh, heh.....

jk....nice looking truck, I'd do what mud addict said.

Thanks for the replies; I think I will take it to a local shop that builds rock crawlers and have them repair it. I bought this for my son and I want to have it fixed the right way.

SWEET!!! I love the BII. I hope your son realizes how lucky he is to have a dad like you to buy him a truck like this!! How bout more pics of that fine ride?

hmm...how do those rear quarter panels mount to the BII? looks like maybe they bolt ontop of the existing panel, or something.
Hey, mas_fina, can you post a few pics showing how that rear panel mounts, and maybe inside the fender well?
