New Bronco II owner w/Cracked crossmember

I need some suggestions I recently purchased this Bronco II for my son and this weekend I noticed a crack in the front crossmember under the engine. The crack stops at a rivet where the front axle is attached to the crossmember.

What is the best way to repair this crack and does anyone have any pictures of the repair?

grind a groove in the crack and weld it up. Unfortunately it may be temporary due to not being able to weld both sides of the crack w/out pulling the engine.

What about welding the groove and welding a plate over it? I've done some research and found this isn’t uncommon but I haven't seen any pictures of the actual repair.

Remove the bracket, and grind and weld first side. Then cut into back side and repeat. Then bolt the bracket back on

And yeah...That's a good looking truck. It might be the 1st I've ever seen like that!

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you can't repair that.... so you should just give it to me, I'll take it off your hands and dispose of it properly.....heh, heh, heh, heh.....

Thanks for the replies; I think I will take it to a local shop that builds rock crawlers and have them repair it. I bought this for my son and I want to have it fixed the right way.

Nice stuff, looks great! I just went to Mcneil racing and Perry's fab n fiber site, but don't see BII fenders offered. Nice offerings for rangers, though!

Here is the link for the Bronco II fiberglass, prices seem pretty good $300 for front and $400 for rear.

hmm...how do those rear quarter panels mount to the BII? looks like maybe they bolt ontop of the existing panel, or something.
