Thought I’d step in and introduce myself.

I’ve recently obtained an ‘88 SuperCab XLT 2.9 Auto 2wd and like to know a list of mods I should and can do. I’m new to the Ranger world and even the 2wd world. I’m a Jeep guy owning an ‘87 XJ that I’m currently rebuilding and can tell you every mod out there for one, but I have no clue where to start with this Ranger. I know I can do a 4.0 swap but that’s not the direction I’m wanting to go in. This will be my DD and I just want a fun little cruiser truck. I plan on polishing out the paint, changing wheels to possibly a set of 18’s I have laying around and doing a small drop, I’m thinking 3/4. So if y’all could help me out and throw mods out that way I can compile a list of what I can do I would greatly appreciate it. Nothing crazy just some simple things to keep my tinkering hands busy, I already have my hands full with my Jeep and the big overhaul on it.

Have a look in the Tech Library... it has a bunch of mods documented.

Edit... The 2.9L has been known to crack heads if it ever overheats. So a serious look at the cooling system is in order. Also... TFI issues. The TFI gets hot and your ignition quits. There is some info for remote mounting your TFI module... worth taking a look into that. Should be info in the Tech Library.
