The title says it. I have an opportunity to purchase a ranger from one of my friends(acquaintance).
I have no idea what it's worth, I've been looking around on the interweb with no luck because its too old. I also attempted to use the search engine on this site with out much luck either. Please help.

The truck I'm considering buying:
1989 ranger
4wd
Extended cab(super I think)
Manual tranny

Body damage
Interior damage
Crappy wheels and tires
Faulty fuel pump
U-joints need replaced
Valve cover gasket leak(I think)
Front blinker broke
Needs full tune up

Not sure what else may be wrong with it and I don't have any pics.
It's all round in pretty poopy condition yet it still runs, apparently reliably.
I just need an idea of what it may be worth, please help. I'm very new.

It's a v6. Not sure what liter
I'm in the Central Valley of southern Oregon, so not much rust.
Tried kbb, doesn't go back that far.

So a beat to piss 89 with a 2.9? Offer him $300.

I didn't realize it only went back to 93, my bad. Yeah - offer the guy 300 bones for it.

KBB only goes back 20 years.

I actually remember going in there early 2008 to see if my truck had gone down any farther and seeing that it didn't go back that far anymore. I wasn't real happy.

I know my Mustang (89) comes up on www.nadaguides.com - but they have it listed under classic. I wonder if an 89 Ranger would be as well?

I doubt an 89 Ranger is considered a "classic".

Most people don't even consider mine "road worthy".

Well, check out what scrap is going for and make sure you don't lowball them on that...your friend may sell it for the $300 as suggested even if they can get more for scrap...I know I would...I've spent too much time rebuilding mine to give it to some steely mouthed can crusher...

Thanks for your replies guys. Much appreciated.
Think I might offer him 500 and see what he says.
Was originally talking closer to 15, but I didn't get to look at it that well, and to be honest, this is the first domestic car (aside from a gillig school bus with cat 3208) that I plan to purchase in the almost 20 yrs I've been driving.
I do keep forgetting that domestic typically runs a bit cheaper at times.
I've always figured if it runs and drives, it's worth bout 500.
Thank you
