Hey everybody im new to the forum so hopfully im posting this in the right place. Earlier this evening on my ride home from work i pulled up to a stop light and then went to pull away and the clucth pedal wouldnt move so in a little bit of a rage i stomped on the pedel and broke the plastic push rod that connects the pedel to the master/slave cylinder not sure which one it is so i geuss my qeustion is what might have caused the pedel to jam up like that and can i buy just the rod without having to buy the hole master or slave which ever one it is? Any help is greatly appriciated thanks

Welcome to TRS~!

Last time I checked, my pushrod was metal...but they may have changed to composite in later years.

Anyway, I would say you probably have to buy the whole master unless you go to a junkyard. They actually pull out pretty easily from the master since it just fits together like a ball socket. But that might have changed also, so I'd suggest finding a junkyard and pulling the whole master out if you can...

The line at the transmission has a quick disconnect that you just pop out (usually, but there can be complications on that) with the right tool...or two screwdrivers to push back the retaining ring.

Once the line is disconnected you just unbolt the master from the firewall and pull the whole thing up...the line usually winds behind the frame so be careful that it doesn't get caught up on the frame or wires and such.

Then you feed the master through the firewall and feed the line back down to the transmission and pop the line in...

Probably save you a whole lot of headaches and money trying to fix the old one or buying a new master...not even sure what they cost, but I'd imagine it is at least $100

I'll add that unscrewing the aft end of the inner fender liner makes that whole MC/line replacement more doable.

Is there any way i can test the master or slave to find out which one is ceased up

It can only be the master, it has the check valve.

But you can open the bleeder on the slave(in the bellhousing) and see if pedal pressure pushes out fluid, which is should and then close bleeder with pedal still down and see if pedal comes back up.

The slave in the bellhousing is just an expanding reservoir, it has no valves to get stuck.
These leak but never heard of one getting stuck expanded, it might be possible, just never heard of it happening.

What I was thinking is the line came off at the transmission...not easy to do but it does happen...and when that happens the line from the master is closed so no fluid will move...that makes the pedal rock solid and will not depress...without popping the line or, in your case, snapping the rod.
