i have a 1996 ford ranger, xlt, 2.3 engine, the battery light came on a couple of days ago, the battery died shortly after, i got a new alternator on warranty, set it on and still not charging the battery, i bought a new battery and still not charging the battery, i then bought a new battery cable from positive battery terminal to starter, still not charging battery, i'm now thinking it's the solenoid on firewall near battery, starter solenoid on firewall, i tested the solenoid with a light tester, the bottom bolt had power, the top bolt had no power, the top bolt has a wire that goes to the alternator, my question is does the top bolt on solenoid on firewall , should it have power, did i find the problem?
