Hey whats up everyone? I am new here and just purchased my first ranger. Its a 1987 STX 4x4 2.9 V6 for $1200. I am on a budget and i was wondering how to lift on a budget. I was thinkin 4" lift coils in the front and chevy shackles in the back with '92 explorer 4x4 leaf packs. If any one has any advice or input i would greatly appreciate it. Also what size tires could i run with this lift? I have a set of 31x11.50 Super Swampers LTBS i wanted to put under it. Thanks for your time

you can do a 2" lift and would be able to get your alignment back somewhat. for a 4" lift you will need drop brackets....If your only after fitting the 31's under your truck go with a 2" budget boost.

if your STX has the highrider package, you may be able to get away with 4 inch springs. the 4 inch springs will pretty much make a levling kit for the highrider. The only thing I would worry about here is the front drive shaft hitting the radius arm crossmember.IF I rember right, 4inch springs will have aprx a 13/14 inch ride height.(the spings with the weight of the truck on them)ask in the 4x4 forum for someone to meassure there 4inch lift kit springs, then you can mock it up.
If you dont have the highrider, 2inch springs/levling springs is all you can get way with.

how to find out if you have the highrider, look at the pivot brackets and the radius arm brackets....and compare them to these.

see how the radius arm crossmember bracket has the little block on them, that the easiest way to tell.

Thanks for all the advice. I actually found a complete 4" front lift kit for my ranger on craigslsit for only $150!!! I think its a pretty good deal correct me if i am wrong. Can i still do the shackle lift in the back or will i need the leafs as well? Thanks
