Just got a 2001 XLT 4.0 2WD about a month and a half ago, and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. I made the move from a Grand Cherokee WJ 4.7 4x4, which burned the biggest hole possible in my wallet/bank account. A few things wrong with the truck, like the exhaust rattles, (likely to be upgraded or just replaced soon), and the tailgate handle is broken. Some rust spots in the door as well, (minute rust throughout but nothing too serious). I've fixed the door ajar problem where the latch gets stuck and won't close properly with a little bit of WD40. I'm proud to be in the Ranger family now!

Welcome to TRS. That exhaust rattle is probably the heat shield on a cat, fire it up and get under there with some leather gloves on and start grabbing and squeezing things like it was prom night.

haha I had a 95 Explorer with the 4.0 OHV, and the heat shield was rattling. I took a dryer hose clamp, wrapped it around, and fixed the problem.

Ideas for my truck:

30" BFG A/T's (I don't want anything too extreme, the trails I'll be taking my truck off-roading on, I've already been to, and it handled them fine with the mild all seasons) with black rims

Flowmaster custom exhaust

Camper top (I really like the Leer 100XQ or 100XL) Does anyone have experience with either of these?

K&N Intake

Edge Grille

Maybe, sometime not so soon, a lift. My truck averages around 22mpg's right now, and I don't want to put much in the way of that as I do commute a lot. The main purpose of this truck isn't going to be a pure off roader, (it's a 2WD open diff truck), just a nice cruiser that can go on some trails occasionally.

Took the girl out for a spin today. Bested a 0-60 of 8.4 out of 3 runs. Not too shabby for a bone stock truck with 130k miles.

(I let off at around 60/65 mph, 1/8th times & beyond are inaccurate)
