New 2 me F-150

Curious, why is there such a long air filter on the intake instead of a regular cone air filter?

Because lightning

You think yours is thirsty. Throw a Magnum Powers roots blower on top making 12 pounds boost, with dual fuel pumps in the tank. Yeah, when you're driving it like you stole it, you can watch that fuel gauge move. 93 octane currently at $5.29 a gallon. It was down around one quarter tank, took 20 gallons, cost $105.00 LOL!!

Pfffffft gotta step them boost numbers up, 2019+ rangers run like 22psi.

I have no idea what the gearing is. I 'think' it has 235/70-16's on it. It's still pretty new to me and everything is virgin territory for me. I do know it has twice the fuel capacity of my D21 but goes about the same distance on a tank. So I gotta get rich if I wanna drive this thing.

Looks like it stock tires.

My 2002 (4wd if that matters or not) with a 5.4 had the same size tire and 3.31's from the factory.

Intake seals can dry out and cause intake leaks, I always got a lean bank 1 and 2 when it did that though (both sides apparently would go at the same time)

Door latch stuff isn't a big deal, you can pull the covers/door panels off with the door closed.

Mine would get high teens pretty reliably which still isn't horrible. Not far off from most half tons and at the higher end of gasser 3/4 tons.

It is a regular cone filter. It's a K & N Power Stack. 7.5 at the mount, 5.5 at the tip, 12 inches long. Larger filter means less restriction. There is a supercharger after all.

Right! But that's on a four or six cylinder, not a 5.4 liter V-8. And the engine is built to handle that kind of boost. Mine isn't. 14 pounds is the most you want to run on a stock Lightning engine. Many have found out the hard way. Joined the Motor Sploder club, or the much esteemed Ventilated Block Club. Same for using laughing gas with boost on a stock motor. KABOOM!

Well, as it turns out, the D21 isn't big enough for my dad. He couldn't fit all of the stuff from the Ecab F-150 into the Scab Nissan. He showed up to my house last night and there was some confusion on exactly what we were doing. He wanted to "trade" the D21 for the F150, with the caveat that I can do nothing the the F-150, because he "may" want it back one day. I must add that we have very different taste and opinions on trucks and vehicles at all for that matter, but he loved what I did with the D21. When I asked if I could use the F-150 for a bargaining chip to get another Nissan or possibly another Ranger, he immediately wanted his truck back. Which was fine with me, because I didn't want the trade to be permanent in the first place. He thinks I reneged on the deal and I think he was trying to take advantage of my handy work. In the time since he gave me the D21, I have turned that truck into a real daily driver ( if needed ) , from a pile of metal on it's way to the scrap heap. dumping hundreds, if not thousands of $$$ into it to get it where it is today. I told him I can't do what I did to the D21, to the F-150, and then turn around and give it back in a few years. To me, it was an even trade, and if I titled the Ford in my name, it wouldn't be around very long. That pretty much sealed the deal for me to get my D21 back where it belongs.

Put the V8 in your Ranger...

I already have an Exploder Donor, just need a shop, a lift, an engine hoist (or two), and a few other doo-dads.

To be fair, I never said the word. I only posted a picture of an engine compartment. Y'all morphed it into something else, as usual.
A picture is worth 1,000 words. :yahoo:
