So I just picked up a 2.9 to replace the one in my dying 2.9 (87' 5spd truck).
The motor I bought runs fine but sat for awhile and has about 140k on it so I'm planning on a small budget rebuild.
If all looks well after the tear down to the short block I'm planning on replacing all gaskets, valve seats, lifters, aligning the intake ports, new oil pump and new head bolts of course.
I'm also planning on pacesetter headers.
Any other thoughts?

Hey,since you've got the heads off I would recommend replacing the "thin crack prone". For what a machine shop would charge to rebuild them get new ones. I just bought a pair of new heads from Alabama Cylinder Heads delivered to my door for $420..I'M not sure if they are World Product casting but they are definitely thicker casting
