You can tell I'm new here, I posted in the wrong place.
Hi all, New here and new to Ford Ranger. Just bought a new 09 XLT Supercab w/2.3 and manual trans. We've been getting to know each other, but getting along just fine so far. MPG was a major deciding factor but the quality and reputation of the Duratec and Ranger in general had a lot to do with my choice. I needed a pickup for my retirement plans and with gas prices on the rise again... Hey,the $3000 rebate didn't hurt either and it looks like Ford may be the most likely of the Big 3 to be around in the future when I need them for service and parts, etc. I definitely wanted to buy as American as possible although that's pretty hard to do with all of the outsourceing going on today. Just thought I'd say hello. Now I want to add a limited slip or locker to the rear end before next winter.

Welcome to the site!!:icon_cheers:

Congrats on your purchase, I'm sure you will be happy with your Ranger!:icon_thumby:

Thanks, and yes, I'm very happy with it and have had no issues at all in the first thousand miles. The gas mileage is directly proportionate to your application of your right foot. Seriously it can give excellent mileage or bad depending on how you drive it, but that's a personal habit you just have to develop. I have and use a scanguage II and it really helps with mileage issues.

Its a great little engine, I highly doubt you will be disappointed. Rolling past 7k, and only real issue I dont like which could be a problem only with the bigger tires is when I'am on the freeway with high winds it doesnt want to move (automatic trans)

I have the manual trans, but can definitely feel the wind when it gets up there in mph. Never had trouble keeping the speed limit (70), but still taking it a bit easy on it for break-in so I haven't tried to cruise any faster. I don't feel like cruising power will be an issue though, it seems to have all that I need so far. Really nice truck! I commute 100 miles/day round trip so break-in won't take very long.
