it seems that im seeing a lot of the posts people put up fall on deaf ears ....

months go by with lots of views and only replies are from original poster ,
its pretty sad that so many people see it yet cant say anything ...
isn't that the whole point of a forum the help a fellow enthusiast , apparently not it would seem ....

if you viewed it whats the issue with adding in to it ...
and I don't want to hear the do your own homework crap , maybe some of us are tight on funds and would like just a touch of reassurance before they dive in n possibly fuk up ...

so tell me what the issue is here

You DO realize that a forum is voluntary, right? And with that voluntary involvement, no one is OBLIGATED to help you and take time out of their day so you can attempt to fix it for free...right?

Is there a plethora of knowledge here? Yes, both as archives and as live responses.

Is there a lack of appreciation? Most definitely.

Why would any of us want to help someone who is whining about not being helped in a short response time? Want an answer, go to Yahoo Answers or Ask.com.

TRS is a community, and a family who like to use and modify their trucks at our whim. This site doesn't need a youngster, like yourself, that is going to ask the same questions that have already been POSTED NUMEROUS TIMES.

*****************************

Out of your 2 dozen messages on this site:

  • You've b!tched about not getting replies.
  • .
  • You've complained that more than 1 person did not answer your post "what is a radius arm bushing." Did even bother to look at a PARTS DIAGRAM? HERE: http://bit.ly/1uJzcBx
  • .
  • You asked about a V8 Explorer swap, WHICH HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED HUNDREDS OF TIMES.
  • .
  • You asked about how to replace a timing belt. If you weren't CHEAP about buying an invaluable $12 manual, you would be better off. SIX People answered you here quickly.
  • .
  • What is the purpose of this thread, that was posted in the wrong section? You didn't even reply back with a picture in YOUR OWN THREAD. http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49007
  • .
  • You got plenty of response here about drop kits: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40608

You only have 2 dozen replies. You're a user who comes on, gets free help, complains about a free service, wants instant gratification, and might leave in a year after you trade the Ranger for another used F-150.

You've been here since 2009...what's the deal with your lack of participation? You know the Tech Library and how to use the search button. Oh wait...is it because you're lazy?

This site could do without leeches like yourself. Grow up, and when you're done crying about the world's injustices toward you, come back as an contributing adult.

So, as you see from your 8 started threads and here, people have time to respond and the experience to properly diagnose from Cyberspace.

People just don't have time to coddle your feelings of neglect and nurse your lack of research to a functioning level.

.

^and thats all to be said on that subject:icon_rofl:

No one is going to fix your truck over the internet. The tech section is more than most members will ever need. Do your own work and come at us with knowledge and not a do it for me attitude.

If you wont invest the time to educate yourself on vehicles and dont have the money to invest in repairs then dont own a vehicle. Ride a bike:icon_thumby:

Easy there Hoss...

The answer below applies to everyone who comes here for help, not just the OP:

depending upon the issue, there may have not been anyone that had an answer. Or the person that possibly did have the answer was not online for a while and the post got buried.

We all have lives and jobs and other obligations as well, and that makes it hard to answer every post that comes along. heck the person with the answer may have had to work 65 hour work weeks, on vacation in Tahiti, or on a date..

As for doing your homework/ researching, that is an integral part of the problem solving. If your question is very wide ranged or vague and can have many different answers depending on what scenario hits it, you might not get a reply because the knowledgeable person does not want to write a book on your particular issue.

Also there are some issues that just can't be diagnosed over the internet and need a live person next to the truck to help out. you might need a mechanically inclined buddy to help out.

That said, do your research, and in your post put in all the things that you have done to address the problem (this will give us an idea where to start in helping you) and be very descriptive of the problem or symptoms. more information is better, it will help yourself out in the end.

Do all of that and if you don't get a reply, bump the thread every few days. your answer may be out there, but the right person has yet to come across your question.

And there might be a time that you come across an issue that has everyone stumped. it happens, in that case, I would recommend getting some local help whether it be a local mechanic, friend or gifted amateur and jsut work it out. go to a pull a part or other self service junkyard and practice on one of the trucks there if you are unsure of what you are doing and do not want to mess your truck up.

And if it is a unique issue, when you get it figured out, congratulations, grab a beer and bask in the glory that you conquered it and post up your results and what you did to fix it here on TRS for any of the members that might come across your issue.

Case in point, a few years back I looked over the site to see if there was anything on how to change the upper intake and valve cover gaskets on my 97 4.0. there was not, or there were bits and pieces here and there. so after doing some web research I did the job, took pictures and posted a tech article for everyone so that they have one place to look for that application. Same for rebuilding your A/C.

Well, I was on my way to make a post similar to AgPete139's, but it appears he beat me to it.

But yes, this information is literally everywhere if you look for it.

Tech Library > Body Lifts, Suspensions, Shocks & Driveshafts > Exploded Views > 2WD Front Suspension <click for link

The other part is getting a Haynes or Chiltons manual. Though the quality has gone down over the years, they're still useful for simple stuff and torque specs.

So yes it's called a radius arm, and thus a Radius Arm Bushing. It sucks the tech guy was an idiot, they're little more than cashiers a this point.

And your other thread about body panels bolting up, That would be 1993-1997. Anything else requires substantial re-work. If you'd bothered searching for "Radiator" in the V8 swap threads, you'd have found your "Core support/Radiator" answer.

The other part of a lask of responses, If I see "I want to do crazy mod insert here, but I have no money, how do I do it for suuuuper cheap", I ignore the thread. There are a few reasons:

1. Vehicles are a pay to play game, unfortunately. You want to get into the fancy custom stuff it will cost you money. If anything in just failed attempts.

2. I don't particularly want to encourage someone to spend all sorts of money playing around when they obviously don't have any idea how to do it, or how any of it works, when their money is tight. It will cost you money to learn, you will make mistakes and have to pay to fix them. I know this first hand.

3. I'm tired of answering questions for the eleventy billionth time. Sure you may not have asked before, but it's obvious that not a single search was done (yes, those who know their stuff and have been around this site can tell). And it gets frustrating handing person after person information, who can't take the time to use the search bar, and have at least a dozen or two responses to read through. Where else in life are the answers handed to you cheerfully? If you were at work and everyone kept asking you questions, the same questions, over and over, with information to answer their question posted ALL over the shop, you'd probably be less and less willing to help them out too.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I do a lot of helping around here, and I look at a lot of threads. Some I have answers for right away, without even thinking about it. Some are more complex and either I genuinely don't even know where to start looking without having the vehicle in front of me, or I have to go do some research first. In those cases I will look, sometimes even two or three times to verify details of the post, and post no reply. Sometime I get pulled away by real life in the middle of my research and forget what I was doing. Sometimes, if the poor grammar and punctuation make a post too much effort to read I just stop reading and ignore it.

There are times that I'll look at the thread, based on the title, and then realize I have nothing to add to help the o.p. There's no point in me typing something when it won't add to, or provide, a solution.

OMG, the grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. (<--- fragment). I can get past typos, but a solid paragraph of jumbled words? I skip these over, too.

Add a hard Return/Enter to the line to break up the paragraph.

ADSM, I've learned stuff reading after you in some of the other threads. Thanks for that, too. :icon_idea: :icon_thumby:

+1. A good portion of some of the repair threads are group-think melting pots of wisdom and share of truck malfunctions.

Wow drama.

Mabey because some of us are posting to much in genral topic area and not in he right thread area. I have not gotten replies on some toppics. But I have gotten lots in other areas.

Some people double and tripple post to try to get an answer. And the people get and and won't post back on multi thread post.

Also some times searching threw hundreads of threads take to long for a simple question. So one is started and not answerd

Also I blabber on and on . Also my spelling sucks. part of me thinks I go on to long about nothing and I just don't get the point. That may be why I don't get some answere and i bet every one stopped reading this and I killed the thread.

i usually try and provide insight on a topic that has no posts, it seems that this gets others to post there insight. a lot of times i just throw out a ball park figure, but its better than no post at all. at the same time, a lot of topics are way out there, or have been covered numerous times. plus, a lot of us are shadetree mechanics.

but then there are others like ronD that pore there heart out into a post, only to be ignored, some of us do ramble on. but if you ignore the advice given i see why you wouldnt want to post and help others. or what about if you have posted the same answer about 15 times... i would be fed up to.

ok .. to address everyone comments all together ...
I do my homework but would like to make sure im correct like in school why fail the test because what you figured out was wrong...
this post wasn't just for me I see a handful of thread with 0 reply after months go by ...
yet some have 100's on subjects that have been covered hundreds of times also...
ive had my truck for yrs haven't traded it for an f150 9 yrs and counting actually
my wifes the f150 lover of the family...
im not saying all my threads have had no posts just last one or two threads ...
I have a 2wd so that's where I post ...
I don't post a lot because im still learning im no mechanic , if I were to pose 100's of time with completely ****ed info im doing more harm than good ...
and I had questions that were answered on here from someone elses post without me having to ask ...
and that's why I come here because its a ranger forum , prob better than asking someone at a Honda place ....

and as far as the pic , thank for you time .. sad it take me making this thread for your insight ... and that is exactly the point I was making , plenty of time do be a douche but not to post even just a yes or no ...

Dude, threads get buried...quickly, from people asking the similar questions. Like what was previously stated, BUMP your thread if you don't get a response.

But seriously...the radius arm question you posted...that was NOT even an honest effort to look for that part name.

And yes, having started a thread to complain about getting free help and me CHOOSING / NOT SEEING YOUR POST makes you the attacker in this scenario.

Did you go back and add that picture to the thread you started? No. So how to you expect a response to "How do you think of my truck looks?" with a picture attached?

If you don't know, ok, fine. No fault there. But there are plenty of other threads that are NOT technical, too. We have a boob thread, after all.

We don't ever have to respond to any of your threads. Just because you send a question out does not mean we are obliged to help you.

The point of everyone's statements above is this:

Ask a question after an honest attempt, and read up on the topic beforehand. None of your topics are special or an odd case. Go out and buy the Ranger Haynes or Chilton's manual. Your questions can mostly be found in there. DO you know how to use an index or a glossary? You obviously know how to read.

Now quit making a soapbox stink on the behalf of all new members. No one elected you Chancellor Gripe.
