Does anyone here know how to recover the bookmarks in Netscape? I have been sick (Strep again, Tonsils are scheduled to be removed after 40 years of living with them) and have not really been logging in much, but today when I startup netscape, all my Bookmarks are gone.

The netscape forums may be a better place to get this information. Firefox is built from the remnants of the dead netscape program. Maybe the can answer your question.

actually, nutscrape is based on firefox. Try looking at your profiles in nutscr..er netscape. you might have had it crash or not close properly, so that the next time it ran, it made a new profile for you.

If all else fails, go into the netscape directory in your program files directory and look for the profile folder. you may have to look a bit, I don't remember the exact location. If you have two profiles in your profile folder, one of them will probably have your bookmarks. under the profile folder you will have a bookmarks.html file, that is your bookmark file. open it up w/ netscape to be sure. if the bookmarks are there, save the file on a jumpdrive or another folder as a backup. if you have two profiles, delete the profile that does not have your bookmark file in it. reboot the computer to make sure that netscape is shut down. launch netscape, your bookmarks should come up. if they don't, and you did find them, do an import of your back up file in the bookmark management window.

Next, consider firefox, it is much better than netscape, and it has the same engine so it works the same.

No, Firefox came from Netscape. I used to drive by Netscape's offices every day before they gave up to AOL.

I'd suspect a full disk. And unless you copied bookmarks.html, it's gone.

First of all, bravo for using something other than IE.

Do a computer-wide search for files called bookmarks.

The last few versions of netscape should have had profile folders, and then look at the date of the files. Should be one of them.
