My 1997 Ranger XLT needs a new driver side door. What model years have the same door? Any help appreciated! Thanks! Don

1995 to 2005 have the same exterior body lines, regular cab or extended cab either will work

Excellent! Thanks for that information. I've had it 20 years, but my daughter dinged up the driver's side pretty thoroughly.

Could be right, but the doors do have differences and are usually broken up 1993/4, 1995-2005, 2006-2011

I think the 2005 2006 difference are the side mirrors

Not sure on the 1994 1995 difference

Fitment is the same 1993-2011 even with 4 door models

There may be some minor interior differences, just so you're aware. When I replaced the passenger side door, I had to drill and file a slot for one of the clips. I think it was for the door pull handle. Everything else was spot on.

There are subtle differences through the years, my burgundy '97 came with a white '01 door when I got it with no wiring or door panel/speaker... couldn't have that so went to the junk yard and found a similar color '94 door, bolted right up but the color is a bit different.

That said, the subtle differences are the door lock cylinder is different (different diameter, I roughly rekeyed it myself to use 3 of the pins...), the door panels are slightly different to meet the different dash but isn't a bad fit, the screws for the door panel go in different places and the handles in the arm rest are completely different... I think the door latch was different but the newer one bolted up fine, that was over 2 years ago, I did some fine tuning to the door fitment with a jack and 2x4 a few months ago but that was from the reason it needed a new door I'm guessing...

Best bet for exterior and interior is obvious...same year and trim. If you're not in a hurry.
I'm on the mailing list of my pull yard and get notified whenever a 94 rolls in. They list the engine but not the trim, but do post an image from which you can determine the trim. If it looks decent, I go.
Maybe your local yard offers that...?

Not on a Ranger but replaced passenger door on a 2 door vehicle and got the whole door for passenger side and then just the interior door panel from the drivers side, so they would match

I posted recently about door similarities to the 1997 model, and many thanks for your contributions. I've come across some 1996 Mazda B3000, 4000 and 2300 vehicles and I was wondering how compatible they are to the 1997 XLT. Any help appreciated.

I think they will bolt up but the sheet metal is bent differently and will not match the body.

As far as I know it will work. The trim is different though and Mazda had trim around the window where Ford did not. I do believe the actual body lines and bare door is the same

I got a striker from a Mazda last week, but didn't examine the door very closely. I will check the trim on my next visit. Thanks!

Well, the helpful advice from all you contributors certainly came in handy. I harvested a door from 2002 Ranger and a bed from a 2000 model along with some miscellaneous hardware. I installed the door and luckily got a good tight fit after jury rigging the striker. The bed is just sitting in place. Hopefully I'll have that done soon. With a little luck and a lot of Bondo, perhaps it will be on the road to recovery. Any observations or suggestions appreciated.
