Getting ready to replace my clutch. Thinking of buying off ebay. A stage 1 or 2 clutch maybe. Any suggestions as to a good brand or what to look for?

1993 4.0L. Occasional driving and racing. I replaced it last year with a Luk clutch and want something a little more heavy duty...thinking stage 1 or 2 clutch.

My friend and I put a stage II in his n/a 1986 toyota supra. I always hated that car, and I always hated driving that car even more. After I helped him put the stage II in, (and to this day I still have no idea why he wanted it so badly) the thing is a bastard to drive. It is nothing special and its a DD, but driving it in traffic is the absolute worst cause the clutch is literally on/off. I would totally be able to live with that if the car were something special and or fast, but it is neither. And neither is your truck. Stick with the stock replacement, it will hold plenty. And besides, a stage II with no give will only lessen the service life of your whole drivetrain.

I've got a Spec Stage II in my '01 4.0 4x4. LOOOOOVE it. Pedal pressure increased just a little bit. It's a grabby som bitch, and I love it. I've got 50k on it and just had it out last week and it still has gobs of friction material still. It slips when I need it do, something I've read the Centerforce doesn't like.

I had a SPEC stage III in my Honda and loved it also. Go with the SPEC!

Um, you need to fix whatever is wrong with your truck (or driving) that causes you to need to replace the clutch every year!

Did he say he needed one? Did he say he's swapping in a new one every year?

I swapped in a stage II Spec when the funds allowed...I only had 10k or so on the clutch that was in the truck. Just because someone wants to upgrade, doesn't mean he/she is replacing worn or unusable parts or broken parts...

He said it was time to replace his clutch, and that he also had to replace it last year... Why go through all the trouble if you don't NEED to replace it? Just seems like extra work for something that is working fine...
