heres the situation...i bought my 90 xlt 2.9 and previous owner said i had a blown head gasket...coolant and oil mix so i took it in to my garage and looked at it and found the lower intake manifold gasket was busted so i thought i could get away with it...i bought new gaskets and fixed it along with an injector kit rebuild...changed all fluids and filters...and started her up and i still had the same problem...i know its the head gasket but what could be the fastest way to fix it??? PULL THE WHOLE P.O.S OUT? or buy new gaskets and rebuild her all over again. :dntknw:

You're probably not going to like this answer. 2.9's are frankly a pain in the rear end for cracking cylinder heads.

In my opinion only? Pick up a head gasket kit, and new head bolts (the old ones are not re-usable) Pull both heads off the engine. If you can't see a physical crack? You'll probably have to take them to a proper machine shop to be fully checked.

Now on one hand, this seems daunting. However if the heads are crap? World products does have cylinder heads at a fair price. (if you are able? It's possible to buy the "Bare" heads and transfer everything over...and those heads (the bare ones) where on discount clearance when I purchased mine).

The only way to see exactly what's going on? Is sadly a physical inspection at this point. Blown head gaskets are often blamed, when it's a fair chance the heads could be where the fault is.
