You've got what you've got! If you really need more power there is no way to get it that is cheap.. Those silly add-ons are making a fortune from guys like you that THINK 3 or 4 hundred bucks will give them more power.. It ain't gonna happen.

Prolly the cheapest and simplest way is to trade that ride for one that came from the factory with a much larger engine.

No, the cheapest and simplest is to drive it correctly.

I'm thoroughly amazed at how many people try to floor 2.9Ls at 1500-2000 RPM. They SUCK that slow.

2.9Ls are happiest around 2500 RPM. And for F's sake, don't be afraid to drive Hwy 17 in 4th. I do that EVERY day, with a 4.0L (that will do 1500 RPM "OK" but it gets better mileage and works happier at the same 2500 RPM).

Your 2.9L will almost do highway speed in 2nd even with 3.73 gears. It WILL do highway speed in 3rd, and will be fairly happy doing it. I drove my 2.9L up to the Eisenhower Tunnel that way (I-70 in central Colorado, over 10,000 feet).

You don't always have to be in the highest gear on the highway, especially up hills.

if you have something else in the making, drop a 200 shot nitrous kit on it and "fahgetaboutit"

Seriously...keeping it tuned properly amd knowing your power band & how to use it to your advantage is key, if that doesn't get you where you think you should be then gearing would be the next step to concider.

as others mentioned, getting more power and cheap do not reside together, exspecially with the 2.9 and most any other engine, for that matter. But if your pockets are deep, then anything maybe possible.

How big are your tires? 235s are about the max if you want ease of speed on the road..215s or 225s might get you a little more... 31s, you'll notice a drop...33s, 35s, more drop. Don't be afraid to wind it up either, running in 4th on the frwy will give you better acceleration at speed and is easier on the trans also.

Thats what I was going to say, put smaller diameter tires on it, that will increase your RPM at the same road speed.

Try 24X6X14

You didn't mention if you were 4X4 or 4X2...

'Cause I'd be amused to see what's left of that FM145 or A4LD.

I would debate on what would go first, the engine on the 200 shot with cast pistons or the transmission failure. :)

Sorry, no cheap bolt-ons are going to give you a significant increase.

What gears are you running?
