hi i got a 3" body lift with my truck when i bought it. i was just wondering if its difficult to put in? i got a 1990 ranger 4x4 ext cab
i went to a local 4x4 place and they quoted me about $800 which i find pretty steep for a body lift

thanks

If you have some mechanical knowledge (don't need a whole lot, though it helps) and can follow instructions, you can complete it in a weekend easily. No sense in forking over $800 for someone else to do it, that's insanely steep.

you just need a buddy or 2 to help. if you have another $50 or so, might pay you to just replace the body mount bushings while you're doing the lift. the ride will really improve. if you can turn a wrench, you can do it. good instructions in the tech library here on TRS. spray the bolts with PB blaster or something similar at least once a day for several days before doing the lift to loosen them up. most trouble you'll have is the 2 front body bolts. they like to rust there and you may have to drill them out. no big deal, just replace them with 1/2" grade 8 bolts of the same length as the ones in the kit. and for the 3" kit, go ahead and get the spacer for the shifter as you'll probably need it.
and it shouldn't take you and your friends more than half a day really, if the bolts come out easily.

u are also going to have a problem with the front 2 bed bolts, as they usually do not like to relinquish there grip and the nutsert will break and spin free, oh ya, it sucks cause the gas tank is in the way on the driver side

oh yah the gas tank filler hose, do i have to buy an extension? also one reason why the original quote was so high was cuz they said that bolts are on the inside of the cab and that it would have to be somewhat stippped to get to them? is that true

thanks

it doesnt have to be stripped, ur fuel tank filler neck is plenty long enough. u just pull up the carpet and pop off the covers(8mm bolt IIRC), a impact with some ass in it will make this alot easier lol

the VERY first time i did a body lift when i was 17 it took me two days because of the front bed bolts, but every one since takes about 2 hours
