'97 ranger 4.0 automatic 150k k&n intake lifted regular cab 4x4 tons of work dana 35 in front (if i remember correctly) warn manual hubs, auto transfer case, has optional front ABS, with a steering stabilizer or some sort of shock on the front axle. truck makes a noise exactly like a wheel bearing is gone in the front end, BUT this noise will shift sometimes it happens during hard(ish) left turns only, indicating passenger side, but sometimes during hard(ish) right turns only, any ideas??
(had a small-time mechanic take a look maybe 6 months ago, said he adjusted the adjustable wheel bearings, swapped out a tie rod, and an axle joint. also brought the truck elsewhere for a wheel alignment afterwards, perfect "steer ahead" according to the printout, still pulls hard to the right, hard. Not only that but i have to keep the steering wheel aimed slightly to the right and keep nudging it counter-clockwise to maintain a near-straight path. problem in the steering column?)

Check your wheel bearings, if not torqued properly, they can and are known to back off. If the bearing nuts backed off, it can cause damage including premature bearing failure, as well as a wheel pull, like you are discribing...

I had this problem too. Take a look at your wheel bearings to see if they are shot. If they are, replace them ASAP! It could damage your internal parts in your front axle and you don't want that. If you have manual locking hubs, look and see if any dirt or mud got into the hub. Mine was grinding constantly when there was dirt inside (I live out in the country) If ruined, you may have to replace them like I did to mine. If not any of these, take your truck to a professional and have them do an alignment the right way. A ford dealer is recommended.
