my wheel studs keep braking off with lug nut why and what can i do to fix it.

Stock rims and lug nuts?
Are you torquing them down?
What are you torquing them down to?
Are you using the star pattern when tightening? (instead of a circular motion when tightening)
Any anti-seize or other penetrant on the lugs and studs?
Are you using a long extension on the socket end?
When does it happen? When removing the lugs or putting it on?

Why it's happening can be due to many things.
Improper torque values.
Improper lugs for the rims.
Lack of hub centric ring on aftermarket rims.
Improper torque down patterns.
Road salt corrosions.
Vandalism.

Could be anything, really.

taking them off. they are put on by tire shop. and took off by me

they probably over torqued them. take it back

Yes definately. They probably just ran them on with an impact. The proper torque spec is 100 ft/lbs.

That happened to my friends explorer. Tire shop basically said their impacts only do 80 ft/lbs and said they had no proof they were the last ones to put the tires on, typical automotive shop bullshit and basically fawked him. One of the many reasons I mount my own tires.
