I am gettin ready to start a new project.
It is a small atv sized buggy. Made from 1 1/2 pipe that will be bent/cut/welded in to a chassis. The engine will most likey be a cb750 for now since I can get a running bike for 200 bucks. The frount will have 450R a arms and shocks. Now for the back is were I am pullzed. I thought about useing a 450R swing arm but I would have to have the engine up beside the drives/passeger seat. What kind of rear axle set up could I use?

check out the atv scrap yards. look for a rear IFS from somthing like a JD Gator or some other type of side by side atv. you could maybe rig up a sproket drive in place of the diff'. It would take some beer and thought but Im sure it could be pulled off.maybe mount the diff' carrier in some sealed bearings pull of the rin gear and fab up somthing to bolt on a sproket?

Good I deal I have been looking how the honda 700xx is set up and got me athinking. Yes I know I could hack something up But I really dont like hack jobs I want this thing as smooth and clean as I can make it. Its my first real project I am takeing on.

well, hack jobs can look as good or as "hack" as you want it. I know it sounds kinda hackish, but loping the rear half off of one of thouse things give you a factory build frame and suspension to work with. the drive train would need to be worked up. you could run with a trailing arm set up but like ya said, you would be shairing seat space with the engine. me and a bud' made somthing like what your talkin about. We hacked of the back of a 125cc 3 wheeler and built a frame off of it. It had no reas suspension tho.
