Engine: 2.3l ( 8 plug )
Trans: 5Speed
Miles: 164xxx

Bought a 93 ranger a couple weeks ago and have been doing some work on it, Check engine light was on and i fixed that by cleaning the EGR ( Was stuck ). Fresh Plugs and wires ( 8 plugs and wires ), Things that are bothering me and i need advice on. Temp stays at the N on normal ( seems low ). Also it hesitates on power with more than 1/2 peddle until warm. also after doing the Plugs, Wires, cleaned intake ( Seafoam ), cleaned MAF ( MAF Cleaner ) the idle is better but still rough when warmed.

I checked codes again with engine off and this is what i see so far ( if im reading it right ) 157/158/327/332/543

Hope you Guys/Gals can lead me into the right direction!.

Thanks
JMOliver

Check your ACT (Air Charge Temprature) sensor. It's either on the intake manifold, or on the air cleaner housing. You should have electrical wires leading to it.

Also, the last code refers to the fuel pump secondary circuit. While the pump itself may not be bad, the circuit that controls it might be bad, or you have a bad ground in the circuit.

That procedure will not work for the 93 Ranger

The 93 Ranger uses an EGR Valve position sensor. The 327 and the 332 are both EGR codes. About three or four years ago I had an EGR problem. It was really easy to fix, I replaced the EGR valve and the position sensor. And guess what, no more EGR codes.

I doubt if cleaning an EGR valve with 160,000 plus miles would be effective

dont know if the cleaning was effective but it made my engine light go out. still shows code though.

The DPFE sensor was used in the 1994 and up Ranger. The 1993 uses a completely different sensor and its diagnosed completely differently.

The link you posted is for the DPFE sensor.

Here is an excellent article on the EGR Valve Position Sensor

The rough idle could be caused by a partially open EGR valve. It could be caused by other things. But I would not rule out the EGR.

I don't know if this will help you or not
The computer shuts off the EGR valve at idle, at wide open throttle and when the engine is cold. So if it gets any EGR during these time there would be driveabiliy problems
