need some advice on new muffler

ive got a 1996 ford ranger 2.3l im gonna put a flowmaster super 44 on it

what size inlet do i need to get for my new muffler to work ... my truck still has stock pipes on it and im not messing with them right now.

any help is greatly appreciated

youll want to get 2" offset inlet, 2" center outlet. the smallest inlet and outlet that flowmaster makes in the supper 44 series is 2.25", part no. 942446, so youll need to buy two 2" to 2.25" adapters to make it fit. make sure you measure everything out first and draw yourself a diagram so when you buy the parts you wont have to make 10 trips to the store because you forgot to get something or because you didnt buy enough pipe to make up for the change in overall length of the muffler (the flow master is 19" overall length and the original is 26"). personally i would go with a 60series delta flow because it is designed for 4 and 6 cylinder engines instead of 8 cylinders like the super 44.

im sure i sound like an idiot but ive never worked with exhaust b4 but if my pipe is 2'' and my inlet is 2'' then how are they gonna go together wouldnt i need a 2.25 inlet?... i dont want it welded on there i just want it clamped

the inlet should be 2" id, the tubing 2" od.
but check with a caliper before you buy.
