I took my Driver seat appart because something was not right. As you can see, one Bolt was broken. I had to drill the stuck piece out.
Yesterday I went to Napa to get a new bolt but they can't find nothing. That Bolt has a bigger diameter on the part with no tread compared to the treaded part. Does anyone knows where to buy Bolts like that ?
Is there a special name for these typ of Bolts? The Bolt goes where I point to the plastic gromet/ bushing.

I also have a Lottery question. How the heck can that Bolt break like that while it is installed ??????????????????????? There is no other damage on the frame. Just the broken bolt.

shoulder bolt.
specific to the application, I would get one from a salvage yard.

for a temporary fix use a regular grade 8, or metric 10.9, and put a bushing over it.

it's probably been in the process of breaking for the last 20 years due to over tightening at installation..

I just realized, I don't know if the seat is a real Ranger seat. But the seat was bolted to the Ranger Rails.

You can order shouldder bolts online. Should be able to find some pretty close to exact. You need the diameter of the threads and the diameter and length of the shoulder. If the shoulder part us a little bit too long, just add washers.

I went to the junk yard and found a seat.......
I think I also found a production flaw on these seats, because the seat I found had the same isue. ....broken Bolt.

I broke those before leaning back too hard trying to get... well I can't share anymore of that story. insert your imagination...

It was years ago but I got replacement bolts from an auto interior shop that did seat work for the dealer I use to work at.

Your big ol' butt in the truck.

Come on. You don't really think we would believe the other story. Do you?
