ok so i am putting new bearing in my explorer 8.8 . got all new bearing installed. putting in pinion i cant crush the crush sleeve so i used an old trick that i have done before by adding a small shim to the old crush sleeve to make it easier. i added a .025 shim and assembled. only to find that i cant crush it. i broke off two bolts in the flange ( using the two bolts and bar method ) i took it all apart made sure the flange would go on far enough ( it did ) is there anythig i am missing? the flange of the nut also gauled up which i have never had happen.
any thing i am missing ? im going to try and put the old crush back in and see if it will go together .
