Could anybody tell me roughly how much it is going to cost me to have my oil pan replaced. It's a 94' Ranger, 3.0 4X4 extra cab, manual trans. The pan is rotted and is leaking like a siv. Any ball park figures would be great to know.

The oil pan itself will be around $55 (depending on where you go). Gasket I would imagine to be under $20, but labor (assuming your not doing it yourself) :icon_confused:. One of the mechanics on here could probably tell you.

Call some local shops and see if they can give you an estimate on the total cost for it.

The labor for it is around 9 hours. if the labor rate is $70/hour and parts total 100 dollars you would be around $750. Just an approximation. It all depends how much labor they charge and what their rate is.

For that much you may be better off trying it yourself, pullin' a motor aint hard:icon_thumby:

You just gotta hook it up how you took it apart!
Take some pics and buy a sharpie and a roll of masking tape, bada bing bada boom

A friend of mine is doing it, he's a mechanic and does side work. The main problem is I don't have the time to do a big job like that. I dropped it off last night and I'm leaving today for two weeks for work. I'm wondering how much stuff is going to break during this. It's pretty rusty under the hood.

+1. I have more troubles taking something all grimey and rusty apart than putting it back together. The roads get awfully saltly around here in the winter time. Usually putting it back together is the part I always look forward to.

Since a friend is doing the work... :dntknw: He might give you a great deal.

Hopefully he does. He wasn't excited about doing to though. I hate putting money into it but what other choice do I have. The truck has 180k miles on it and I personaly put about 55k. This is the first real money I dumped into it so I guess I can't bitch. Not bad for a $2300 rig.
