I bought this truck a month ago and I have been thinking a lot about what to do with the color scheme of the wheels, flares, bumpers and grill. I will be tinting the windows in the near future so they will obviously be black soon but I am not 100% set on what color to paint the flares and grill. I already decided I want to paint the wheel satin black. I'm just trying to decide if I want to paint the flares and grill satin black also or color match them to the body. I wish the bumpers were already chrome but they are not and I will not be paying to have them chromed. I already bought the blasting media to strip the remaining clear coat off of the corroded rims, and to blast and paint the trailer hitch since it is pretty rusty as it sits.

What is ya'lls opinions? Color match the grill and flares or satin black. So you know, I don't want gloss black on the flares and grill. I just don't think I would like it and scuffs would show more on them. Also so everyone can rest easy, everything will be prepped properly and painted properly with Spies-Hecker auto paint as I work for a body shop. Lemme know what ya think. Im leaning more towards the satin black with the matte clear over everything.

I like the idea of color matched trim...but it's really a matter of what you like...

It's a nice enough looking truck as it is...but I'd dump the chrome rims to to match the trim that's on there if it were my truck...

You may be able to find a deal on chrome bumpers on eBay or craigslist, or score a deal on some nice ones at a junkyard. If anything, LMC has them new and prob cheaper than re-chroming. Also can pick up a chrome OEM grill or go billet on the grill if you like that.

I have the unpainted flares and like them. But if they were faded and not looking good, I'd prob paint them.

Not a fan of black rims, with the exception (sometimes) if they have a chrome trim. I think black rims make it look like you are driving around on spare wheels. Just my 2 cents on that.

.

I think satin black for the trim not sure how it would look on the wheels though.

Red and black is cool. Paint the bumbers black and the flares black and save some bread there, Bro. Get black wheels or upgrade to some nice aluminum rims either polished or black. Either way that will be a cool looking truck!!!

I liked the idea of color matching the trim also, until I thought of the fact that it may be somewhat difficult to REALLY match the new paint to the body. I'd love to ditch the factory wheels for some fake beadlocks or something, the style wheel I have on it are my least favorite of Ranger factory rims besides steelies. Unfortunately I am a broke ass college student for another year who also has a mortgage at the moment so none of these options would even be possible in the first place if I didnt have great hookups with the shop I work for. Either color I choose will cost me maybe $100 in materials and then trading labor with the painter.

If it were me I would slowly try to score a chrome grille and bumpers as deals become available and then paint the flares and foglight valance with duplicolor spray on bedliner ($7 a can). It would look good and there would be no worries about matching 15 year old paint

There are plenty of rims that will fit your truck, but not sure if you like the Jeep style (similar style to yours but they don't slant)...I picked up a set of 8" for my winter tires on the rear...had a heck of a time finding some for the front though...mine were not chrome, but I found plenty of the same style in chrome...a guy I met last year told me they were Jeep rims and he had four of them on his truck...

You may not like them though...they're older styled rims...but they paint up really nice...
