i have a 1987 bronco II with the 2.9 v6 while im driving it starts to spit an sputter an not run right but i can press the gas to the floor an it will eventually stop the spitin an sputtern an i can also turn the key off an turn it back on and it stops for a few mins then does it again does anybody knoe wat could be the cause of this??

i would start with oxygen sensor. just go under the vehicle and unplug it and see if it sputters still. if it doesn't sputter then you know that a new oxygen sensor is needed. the 1st few mins your car is running it is running in a closed looped for all sensors so the computer just reads default settings from all sensors so by unplugging the oxygen sensor you would thus have the computer reading a default setting.

3 things to check:

Battery to ignition relay wire

Battery to block ground

O2 sensor.

i just put wires plugs and a distributor cap on it ive hooked a computer up to the vehicle an gives no codes and wat do you mean the battery to the ignition relay wire

Follow the battery hot cable under the black plastic cover behind the air box and make sure the other end it tight.

ohh okay do u think it could be the iac or the engine computer

Doubt it. IAC only really affects idle, so your spit and sputter off idle is out.

I've had this issue many times with my truck. It's always been one of those three. Usually the O2, but checking the wires is free. O2 sensor is like $40 and a pain to change if it's stuck in there good and you don't have the right tools.

well sometimes after driving it wen u go to stop it doesnt idle rite either an sometimes it will cut off

Get the exhaust hot the it is easier to pull the 0-2 sensor but it could be the wires going to it are melted look at the wires and connectors good. Take the grounds apart and sand them.

You said you just changed those wires plugs and cap, what brand did you use? Some of that aftermarket crap is just that- crap.
