I have a 92 Ford Ranger with a 2.3L (great truck) but when i first crank it before or after its warmed up and for about five min it spits and sputters then it runs fine i am guessing the plugs and/or the plug wire but any advice would be appreciated.

More than likely moisture accumulation from sitting (especially if this is only on morning starts)...try parking in a covered area or throw a tarp over the engine bay at night...

If this happens all the time then I'd suspect you have a fuel problem...not likely plugs or wires if it works itself out after being warmed up...could also be something witht he ignition system (IAC et al) but since I'm not that familiar with all the electronics involved on FI engines someone else would have to chip in on this one...

mine was doing the same thing, spit and sputter sometimes after restarts, occasionally sputter on driving, changed the fuel filter,no more problem.:icon_cheers:
