Need Help! Wont Shift!

So I put a new clutch in my truck, got it all back together, and it wont shift at all. With the motor on or off it's stuck in fourth gear. Won't even go into neutral. Any ideas?

I'm guessing you pulled the shifter out while the tranny was in gear, then reinstalled it as if it were not in gear. Try pulling the shifter out and resetting it. Odds are if the stick is in the 4 position the tranny is in 1 or 3.

I drove around the parking lot to see if it would shift once I got it moving but still nothing. Its definitley in fourth, if I let the clutch out all the way at 25mph it would stall.
Ill try taking the shifter back out again though and making sure it's all the way seated.
It could be in 5th too, I just thought of that.

Its not about making sure its "all the way seated" its making sure the stub is aligned properly, if its not you're going to keep having the same problem. Its easiest to re assemble with the trans out of gear, you might try shifting it out of gear with a screw driver before re assembling it.
