I am looking at purchasing a 2wd,auto, 105K. The seller took it to a mechanic. They did a CT. Comp on 1 cyl was low. Mechanic said it needs valve job. He drives it everyday. Power is just a little low. Could this just stay like that for years. Do I need to change both heads right away. What does it cost? Parts? Labor? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Do a search here, several guys here have had issues with bad valve seats on newer 3.0's. The cost varies depending on where you get your parts, and who's doing the work. It's a problem thats only going to get worse, and could eventually crack/warp your exhaust manifolds, or burn out your cats, so I'd get it looked at by someone you trust pretty quickly. Personally, I'd just keep looking unless you're getting a smokin deal on it. You'd probably spend $800-1200 having a shop replace the heads. If you do it yourself, the cost might drop enough to make it worthwhile though.

Thanks for the feedback. Truck is in great shape besides this issue. Price of truck is $2,500. I will search later. I am on BB

With only 105K on it I seriously doubt it needing anything done to the valves.. I'd quickly do a compression check on it myself just to make sure the guy wasn't selling himself a job of work.
All bad valves I have ever been associated with had a bad miss in the engine.. If yours runs good and doesn't miss I'd leave it alone.
Another question? Why did you take it to a mechanic in the first place?

I did not bring it to a Mechanic. It is a service truck for a small communications company. The seller took it to the mechanic

I say buy it and pull the heads have the valves done and slap it back together and drive it. Just get a good service manual. Shouldn't be that bad.
