need some new tires have some kelly tires and they suck bad in the snow..what are some good 31X10.5r15 tires with some good thread on um..i was thinking maybe bfgoodrich but don't know thanks

if your lookin for a normal daily driver set then you should go with BFG, they make great offroading tires, that also perform good on road

i went with NITTO's Mud Grappler tire, has got to be one of the most extreme lug patterns ive seen.. they howl pretty damn loud on the road and that about the only thing i hate about em..

cooper ATR's. they perform very well in the snow (much better than BFG's) and have done equally well in sand, mud, and on pavement. so far ive gotten excellent tread life out of them.

beleive it or not....the firestone econo brand of wheel trac A/t's has great tread do very well onroad and off and they can be had on the cheap aswell.

I have a friend who is a rally driver (he knows his tires). He says for snow BFG is the best, but I have been told they are not that great in the mud. I just got some BFG and I live in Houghton, MI (snow capitol) and have loved every but of them. My 4x4 is out and have been driving around in snow storm after snow storm rarely getting stuck. Once the snow melts I can test them in the mud.

what stores usually carry bfg a/ts

Haha i see everyone here buys the expensive tires. i go with the knock off brands and save some cash:D

BFG's are overated

I know this will cause a "Rise"... I work at a "tire shop" and have not seen ONE BF tire that is perfectly round or did not take very excessive weight to balance. Sorry, thats just the way it is from my perspective. I Have replaced alot of BF Goodrich tires with Firestone Destination AT and every single customer likes them better then their old long trails or whatever. My dad's 2000 ranger 4wd had long trails on it when he bought it. They did quite well until we put Destination a/t's on it. Not one tire required more than 1.5 oz total to balance and all 4 were perfectly round not to mention they ride alot better and have better traction. This is the deal on mostly street-driven truck tires. Josh

im glad that someone else "in the know" has seen the light as well. ive tried to talk people out of BFG's before and i'm almost always out spoken. BFG's are an economy tire at a premium tire price.

I just put on a set of 31's on my 96 supercab ranger. Maxxis buckshot mudder. Not a loud howl and every where I look in my area of AR. People have really good wear from them on the hwy alot. I tried mine out today in the MTNS, shoot, did not need 4x4, these tires grip. I paid about $130 each from my local tire guy. they have a web site, (maxxis mudder).

I've wore out a few sets of BFG all-terrain TA's and for my money I've yet to find a better all around tire(stay away from the long trail TA as someone else here mentioned, they are junk). I drive between 20-30K miles a year here in PA with some moderate off roading thrown in to go hunting and fishing, and those all-terrains last me between 40-50K miles. When you get to 1/2 tread or so the wet traction will decrease noticeably as the factory siping wears out. I keep trying different tires out to see if I like anything better but I haven't yet. I'm running Hankooks now and they are okay on the highway. when they wear out I'm thinking of trying the new General grabber AT2. You could check out "the tire rack" for online reviews of lots of different brands, along with pricing, sizes, etc.

i like my BFGs. no problems in the snow. you could try the Definity Dakota A/Ts good off brand with a very similar tread pattern to the BFG

kumho m/t is a good snow tire too. not that extreme one just a regular m/t. not the best mileage tho

I like my Toyo Open Country A/T's...they've done really well in 8 inches of snow that we got this year. They've also done very well in mud and on trails too. Just my $0.02
