need help with a part.

im a lost for words right now i should know this. ok the ranger has that fender mounted starter solenoid? and not one on the starter right?

Yup.
It's on the drivers side fender.

Battery-> wire-> solenoid-> wire-> starter motor

There is a solenoid on both.

thats what i thought because i been having problems with starting. like i turn the key and it just clicks the starter wont even turn over. Then if i jump the terminals on the solenoid still nothing at the starter but i have voltage everywhere i checked other then i didnt check at the starter maybe i have a bad wire there or something.

i did kick the shit out of the starter and it worked then but last night when it wouldn't start i left it and tried again durring the day and it started just fine so i dont know if its beacause its has been really cold at night here or what
