Hey there own a 1990 Ford Ranger with a 2.9litre v6 engine. Not sure what transmission but it is automatic. It is a 4x4 with electronically shift transfer case, but had it upgraded to manual locking hubs.
Anyways had a used transmission with low kms put in about a year ago. This is the second transmission i've had put in since i owned the truck. Recently I was pulling out of a parking lot well i kinda punched the gas and heard a loud clunk after this i had no gears it was like i was stuck in neutral tried shifting through 1st,2nd,drive,overdrive nothing happened. (The engine still runs fine accept for the annoying tick, tick, tick...wich i'd really like to do somthing about as well but i'll leave that for another post.) Anyways i pulled the transmission cover to see if well.... i dunno what i though i'd see. But while doing so i noticed the transmission fluid and filter were in perfect condition, i replaced both anyways fluid and filter. I dont know if this information is at all relevant to my problem. I've had friends tell me it is the linkage and other tell me it is the torque converter. It is an old truck but i'd really like it fixed as it is my only transportation. If anyone can help i'd be grateful.
Thnx Corndogg
