Need help Please

I have a 8.8 rear end and was putting new axle seals and all new brakes on it before putting it in the truck. Well when I turned the c-clip to get the open side up if fell off of the axle, I have new clips for it but I can't find the old one I have tried 3 different magnets and turned it up side down but can't find the clip. I am afraid it might get in the gears so can some one tell me how to get it out?

I feel for you, but I have no better suggestion than what you already tried. Keep at it and look inside the gear/spider cluster too.

pull the Axel out get a shop or wash cloth rub it full axle grease and shove it threw with a strong string tied to it to pull it back out
