So I was wondering if a transfer case from an FM-145 or an FM-146 would bolt onto a Mazda M50D transmission. I am replacing the transmission in an 1987 BroncoII and I was going to put a Mazda transmission in it but all of the Mazda transmissions that I have seen are electric shift. Does anyone know if there are any that are not electric shift, if the transfer cases are interchangeable, or if i will have to just change it to an electric shift? Really appreciate it.
Thanks

You'll be fine with the M5OD, going to a manual t case from a 146, I did the same swap

Yup, you'll be just fine.

Ok thanks. I have both a 145 and a 146 but I am not sure of the quality of the 146 so do you know if it will work with a 145. If not I can just try and compare them.

All the transmissions and transfercases are interchangable between the 2.8, 2.9, and 4.0. But not all crossmembers are since some of the transmissions are different lengths.

Actually, the cross members are the same too, just in different holes.

Good to know, but I know there are ones that go inside the frame, and some go outside.

Not that year. Also, they are all fairly interchangeable and I think all the holes are present on all years.
