Hi guys,

I'm supposed to pick up a lift kit tomm and the more I look at it the more I'm thinking it may not be for a ranger/bronco ii. Could any of you experts give me a hand before I spend a bunch of time driving and buy something I can't use? I have a 97 Ranger 4wd, the seller said these were from an 84 Bronco and would fit a ranger but I'm starting to think they may be from a full size and not a B2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A pic of the kit I'm looking at is below:

Looks like a Rancho 2.5" Ranger lift.

Be sure to check all it's brackets over real carefully before you put it on though (the two brackets that hold the radius arms to the frame, and the bracket for the passengerside axle beam in particular), they are prone to cracking, especially with hard use.

Thanks for the info! The seller said it was a 4" class 2 or class 3, I'm not familiar with the Rancho kits (thought it was a skyjacker at first because of the red) but then noticed the arms we different etc... Do you have any more advise regarding the kit? Thanks again!

In the meantime I've done a bit of searching on the board, looks like it's a 2.5" and rubs on the tires pretty badly... I'm kind of worried about buying now... Reinforcing the brackets is no big deal to me but I'd like more than a 2.5" lift as I've got almost that now. Is there a way to get this thing up higher and take advantage of the extended radius arms or is this a lost cause. Any help is appreciated as I'm supposed to meet in the A.M. and was under the impression this was a 4" kit....

He might be using 4" springs with it, which should work out fine.

If he was using a 4" spring would I have a way to tell? Most likely would be difficult with springs varying rates etc.... He said it was on a B2 running 33x12.5's with plenty of clearance and that it was big compared to the other rangers he's owned. I said I would let him know in the morning. He's asking $450 b/o, was thinking this was a decent deal with it being extended arms and 4" lift but now that I'm finding out it's 2.5" and people have had problems with it rubbing I'm a bit worried I'm going down the wrong path. Is there really a point to extended radius arms with just a 2.5" lift?

personally ........ there are alot of parts I would buy used ........ suspension and brake parts are not on that list.

I would walk away and save for a 6" skyjacker

Whats the max lift I could modify this kit for and still have decent road manners? Would it just be a matter of springs?

4 1/2" is about max that you could get before it would be un-alignable.....

$450 seems pretty steep for that old of a kit....I would offer maybe half max...

just my opinion though....

Agreed with the above, I wouldn't give much over $200 for that kit, it's just too poorly designed IMO to pay more than that (I had that exact kit on my Ranger for about two years before I got fed up with all it's issues and switched to Skyjacker).
