Posting this here because im tight for time and the axle section isnt very active.

got an 8.8" 28 spline rear posi diff form a 2004 ranger 4x4 from the wrecking yard for a swap into a mazda rx7

we are trying to find a spider gear kit for it which includes the two spider gears and the two axle gears. ordered one from yukon gear part# 16015 YPKF8.8-P-28

the cross pin in the yukon kit is .875" while ours is only .750" so i searched all over and nothing. i can get cross pins in both diameters, bit not the kit, or even just the spiders gears which would be ok too

need some help,,thanks

Are you positive its a 28 spline, and not a 31 spline?

Edit: additionally I am confused as to why you want spider gears for a rear end with torsen L/S. Are you looking to convert is back to an open diff?

he has a cross pin. Torsens don't have cross pins.

have you tried Jegs or SummitRacing?
there you could at least see the manufacturer then chase parts in Canada.

Edit: I'm deleting the part description from Jegs because it is not for the LS diff.

sorry

They sure don't.

What makes you think it’s a Torsen rear?? He clearly stated 28 spline posi ( @gmrocket ... Ford calls a limited slip, Chevy calls it a posi.), not a 31 spline Torsen... You brought up the Torsen.

I simply assumed he was referring to a 8.8 posi out of a 2004 fx ranger with a factory torsen rescued from a junk yard. wasnt sure if gmrocket had opened the rear end or was just assuming the needed components from available parts lists.

Wouldn't it be nice if people actually read the post before offering their advice... Only the Level II FX4 had the Torsen rear, unless it was a 2002, or a 08/09 with the optional Torsen.

gmrocket, that Yukon kit says it only fits the Yukon posi differential carrier. I presume yours is the standard Ford traction-lok carrier. That would be why its not the right one.

The one pjtoledo posted if for an open 8.8 carrier, so that's not the right one either; as I recall the gears are different in the traction-lok diff. But it might be worth a try just to double check.

The only traction-lok spider gear sets I can find are for the 31 spline axles.

I'm not sure how asking for additional details and trying to pin down exactly what components the OP is working with qualifies as an individual "not reading the post before offering their advice". But, ok.

He said what he had and what he needed in the first post.

Most Mustangs have a limited slip (especially V8 ones) but you might call and confirm.
