This truck is going to be a daily driver and weekend off-roader.
Alright here is the basic lay out of my build:
89 extended cab ranger
5.5" james duff long arm lift
2" body lift
33" tires
D35 w/ trac-lok and 4.56 gears
exlporer 31 spline, disc brake 8.8 w/ LS and 4.56 gears
1354 electric transfer case
Maybe a 1350 doubler
mazda 4x4 5-speed w/ a 2.3 bellhousing
Alright to the engine and my delema
Parts I have:
98 2.5 w/ a thrown rod. IDK if the crank or block is salvagable but I have the complete motor and computer.
92 2.3 long block w/ 96,000 miles
86 2.3 complete, mileage unknown
LA3 ecu
88 tc wiring harness
large VAM
garrett T3 turbo
E6 exhaust manifold
35# brown top injectors
autoengineuity software for diagnostics on OBDII systems
I'm wanting to run a 2.3 turbo but I want to get this truck going soon so, finally here are my questions/options.
1. Can I put all 2.5 acessories (intake, exhaust, ecu, ect.) on my 2.3 long block and get it to run right?
2. should I not mess with question 1 and just use my 86 block and TC parts to build a 2.3 turbo truck right now instead of later?
3. OR should I combine the 92 2.3 and 98 2.5 parts (if crank is repairable) to build a 2.5 turbo that I can tune with a SCT progamer?
each option, if possible, gets more expensive and time consuming to build as you go down the list. I would just do option 3 and sell my TC parts but I want to get this truck built ASAP. If I can do option 1 then I could build my 2.5 turbo and install it later.
What would you guys do?
