k on my way from home at 5:30 (dark out) i turned on my lights..going down main street, the lights kicked out on my dash (no illumination at ALL).i pulled over and although i had my switch on full for my lights, i had no parking lights on, and no taillights..i have turn, brake, reverse etc and full headlights..all the idiot lights on my dash illuminate but not the dials for the instrument cluster or the HVAC..what the hell could cause this? I have had my dash out doing some customization and replacing bulbs but it worked great for the past two days..also, i went into a rather large mudhole where the water was halfway up my tires..i had a broken/corroded wire near my rear light harness last winter which was fixed successfully. any help/insight is great..i'm going to check fuses and under the hood and that wiring repair spot now...

I would say you blew a fuse. If you have an aftermarket stereo wired in, it probably didn't use the light power. That wire may be shorting on something if it wasn't sealed up good.

so this is what i did..threw in a 20amp fuse into slot 3 in my junction box (regularly a 15) and threw on the lights..then i could SMELL the burning :icon_rofl:....and the smoke coming from underneath my rear bumper :shok:

pulled my little sled outta my box, whipped underneath my truck and started hunting for wires that were corroded/touching. found out that the wires leading to and from my trailer wiring box were F*CKED so out she came. Threw in a new fuse and PRESTO!! lights are good to go again. i found out that i hate electronics and wiring in the winter time :icon_twisted
