Well my front hanger on the pass. side for the leaf spring broke. I got the rivets out with no problem. only took 2 hours and that includes a trip to the hardware store. I went to remove the leaf spring bolt and it is seized . I cut tthe head off with a sawzall, soaked it in pent. oil and used a air hammer , a 2 pound sledge and punch and a few other things for five freaking hours. Money is kind of low and I don't want to have to remove the entier spring. any ideas? please help.

At this point after 5 hours I would torch the rubber grommet and replace the sleeve, grommet and bolt. and yes you can buy the grommets.

You dont need a cutting torch for this either. a propane one will do fine is you are just melting/burning out the grommet. It will take longer without the cutting torch.

the new grommet can be popped in with lots of lube! and that 5 pound sledge and a block of wood for backing. or hell just put it up against the frame.

i had the same problem with the bolt when i swapped my springs. if you are keeping the same springs you need a new bushing cause the metal sleeve that is inside the rubber has rust welded itself to the bolt soooooo just go ahead and burn it out

i used a drill bit to removed the bushing, drilled a bunch of holes through it and eventually got it to come out. just make sure you removed the outer metal sleeve thatll be in the spring eye or youll have a hard time getting the new bushings in.

I have been looking everywhere for the bushings. None of the parts stores around carry them, they say that they can't order them either. Where is the best place to get them? Thanks for help.

mmmm you might have to order them from energy suspension or jc whitney or the such.

they had them in stock at my local NAPA.....
