I removed the tranny from the motor of my Mercury Mystique but I did'nt bother to remove the torque converter until after I removed the trans.

Here's my question:
Do I need to remove the donor tranny with the torque converter intact? AND Will I damage the donor tranny if I remove the tranny first and then the torque converter?

Thanks.

you might get away with it but I would definately unbolt it first. Take no chances.

I agree. It is just as hard to unbolt the converter either way. Might as well unbolt it first.

Ok, thanks again Mutant.

Even the manual says to make sure the converter is fully seated into the tranny upon installing it like you said in an earlier thread. It also says to check with a straight edge from the tranny bellhousing to be extra sure because if it's not properly seated dmage WILL incur......geez. Thanks, I'll keep you guys posted.
