Need help 4.0 sohc swap to ohv.

I have a 2001 ranger 4x4 with the sohc motor. Motor and trans are about done. I have a99 mazda b4000 4x4 ohv and the truck is totaled. So my question is can I swap the ohv motor trans and ecu into my 01? I know its backward from normal thinking but my 99 trans is brand new and the motor has only 150000 . Thanks in advance

that makes absolutely no sense what so ever how many miles i cant believe the engine is done i have abused and i mean abused SOHC engines and not had a failure due to manufacturing issues. i dont know because i haven't done the research but the trans may work . not to mention it would totally be a pain in the ass to go backward

That's what I was wondering. If it was a huge pain in the ass. I just have a good ohv motor and transmission so that's my reason for asking. Thanks though. I took it to the shop and they thought it was a cracked block. Any way I got a coolant system pressure tester and my head gasket it done. Coolant sprays out of the back of the head. So a set of head gaskets and some machine work and ill be good.
