Hi All,
I just bought a 96 ranger xlt 3.0 2x4. Its at the shop getting inspected it sat idle.for a year. It has 104,000 miles andits a single owner. What can I do to get it running great and prolong its life. Do you recommend lucas oil treatment and what are tour thoughts on the cleaning agents fir the fuel/ignition system. All help is appreciated.

Welcome to The Ranger Station!

Normal stuff, probably needs plugs and wires, go with Autolite double platinums.
Seafoam in the oil, then change it, Seafoam into the brake booster hose (read the can) before you replace the plugs.
Clean the IAC. Air filter, serp belt, maybe idler/tensioner pulleys.
Put synthetic gear oil in the rear axle.
Synthetic ATF in the manual 5 speed trans.

Read up on the Cam Synchro failure problem here: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92020 and make a decision about that sooner than later, especially if it starts chirping.

Enjoy your ride!
